Description

A flavorful and easy-to-make Black Pepper Beef Stir-Fry that combines tender beef with fresh vegetables and a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked white rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet, and add the black pepper, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Serve the black pepper beef over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or sliced jalapeños during cooking.
  • You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or chicken breast for a different protein option.
