A flavorful and easy-to-make Black Pepper Beef Stir-Fry that combines tender beef with fresh vegetables and a savory sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked white rice (for serving)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for an additional 30 seconds.
- Return the beef to the skillet, and add the black pepper, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve the black pepper beef over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped green onions.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or sliced jalapeños during cooking.
- You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or chicken breast for a different protein option.
