Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may look slightly underbaked.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
