Description
Crispy Shrimp Cakes are a delicious seafood treat that combines shrimp with flavorful ingredients, perfect for a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Begin by finely chopping the shrimp into small pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, green onions, red bell pepper, garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Stir in the beaten egg until the mixture holds together. If it feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
- Form the mixture into patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter. You should get around 8-10 patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the shrimp cakes in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a squeeze of lemon juice.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of hot sauce or diced jalapeños to the mixture.
- Substitute half of the shrimp with lump crab meat for a delicious crab-shrimp cake blend.
