Description

Indulge in these exotic Lychee Cream Puffs, a delightful treat filled with a creamy lychee mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup lychee fruit, chopped (canned or fresh)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin powder
  • 1/4 cup lychee juice (from canned lychee)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Once boiling, add the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large round tip.
  6. Pipe small mounds (about 1.5 inches in diameter) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Do not open the oven door during baking.
  8. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the lychee juice and let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom. Then, gently heat it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds until dissolved.
  10. In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  11. Fold in the chopped lychee and the dissolved gelatin mixture until well combined.
  12. Once the cream puffs are completely cool, carefully cut a small slit in the side of each puff.
  13. Use a piping bag to fill each puff with the lychee cream mixture.
  14. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • For a tropical twist, substitute the lychee with mango or passion fruit.
  • You can also drizzle melted chocolate over the cream puffs for added flavor and decoration.
