Description
A delightful and moist Matcha Pound Cake that combines the rich flavor of matcha green tea with a classic pound cake recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the matcha powder and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract along with the vanilla.
- You can also top the cooled cake with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk for added sweetness.
