Description
A delicious and flavorful oven-cooked barbecue brisket that is tender and perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ to 3 pounds beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
- ½ cup beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) to create a spice rub.
- Pat the brisket dry with paper towels and rub the spice mixture all over the meat, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
- Place the brisket in a roasting pan or a large baking dish, fat side up. Pour the beef broth around the brisket, but do not pour it over the meat.
- Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Cook for 3 to 4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
- Remove the brisket from the oven and carefully take off the foil. Brush the barbecue sauce generously over the top of the brisket.
- Return the brisket to the oven, uncovered, and cook for an additional 30 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
- Once done, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing against the grain.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the brisket in the spice rub overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
- Try using different barbecue sauces to customize the flavor, such as spicy, sweet, or smoky varieties.
