Description
A delicious recipe for pan-seared sablefish served with a zesty lemon pepper aioli.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sablefish fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- For the Lemon Pepper Aioli:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
- Season the sablefish fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Once the oil is hot, place the fillets skin-side down in the skillet.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and the fish is cooked about halfway through.
- Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Remove from heat and drizzle with lemon juice and zest.
- While the fish is cooking, prepare the aioli by combining mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, black pepper, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Mix well until smooth.
- Serve the sablefish hot, topped with a generous dollop of lemon pepper aioli.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for half of the mayonnaise in the aioli.
- For added flavor, try incorporating fresh herbs like dill or parsley into the aioli.
