Description

A delicious recipe for pan-seared sablefish served with a zesty lemon pepper aioli.


Ingredients

  • 2 sablefish fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • For the Lemon Pepper Aioli:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Season the sablefish fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Once the oil is hot, place the fillets skin-side down in the skillet.
  4. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and the fish is cooked about halfway through.
  5. Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Remove from heat and drizzle with lemon juice and zest.
  7. While the fish is cooking, prepare the aioli by combining mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, black pepper, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Mix well until smooth.
  8. Serve the sablefish hot, topped with a generous dollop of lemon pepper aioli.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for half of the mayonnaise in the aioli.
  • For added flavor, try incorporating fresh herbs like dill or parsley into the aioli.
