Description

Delicious Sweet and Savory Bourbon Chicken Skewers perfect for grilling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Wooden or metal skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, vegetable oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 4 hours for more flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using a grill, oil the grates lightly to prevent sticking.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  5. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks. The internal temperature should reach 165°F.
  6. Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding bell peppers or onions to the skewers.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs for chicken breast for a leaner option.
  • For a smoky flavor, try adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the marinade.
