Description
A simple and delicious Garlic Butter Pasta recipe that is quick to prepare and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces spaghetti or linguine
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
- In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
- Return the drained pasta to the pot with the garlic butter. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the pasta seems dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season with salt and black pepper. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley until well combined.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor, if desired.
Notes
- For added protein, consider tossing in cooked chicken, shrimp, or sautéed vegetables like spinach or broccoli.
- Experiment with different cheeses, such as Pecorino Romano or a sprinkle of feta, for a unique twist on flavor.
