Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti or linguine
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • Lemon wedges for serving optional

Method

  1. Cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
  3. Return the drained pasta to the pot with the garlic butter. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the pasta seems dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley until well combined.
  5. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor, if desired.
