Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until combined. Set aside.
  3. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix on low speed until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until the flour is no longer visible.
  6. Scoop the dough into balls, roll in sanding sugar, and place on the baking sheets with space in between.
  7. Top each dough ball with sliced almonds and mini M&M's, pressing gently to attach.
  8. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until edges are crispy and centers are slightly soft.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
