For the Icing & Decoration

  • 1 tsp Orange Food Coloring Gel Regular food coloring can be substituted.
  • 1 tbsp Edible Black Glitter Black sprinkles can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar No substitute needed.
  • 1 pack Black Licorice Can be omitted or replaced with chocolate sticks.
  • 1 pack Candy Eyes Any small candies can be substituted for the eyes.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with a Silpat mat or parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Devil’s Food cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs, and optional chocolate fudge pudding mix. Beat until thick and well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Scoop 18 equal portions of the batter onto the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they are spaced apart.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 7-10 minutes until they spring back when touched. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Mix the vanilla icing with orange food coloring gel until you reach your desired color.
  6. Once cooled, spread orange icing on the flat side of one pie and sandwich with another pie.
  7. Decorate with black sprinkles or edible glitter and use black licorice for spider legs and candy eyes.
